Year Up Chicago
City Colleges of Chicago
Transcript Guidelines
If you were a part of Year Up Chicago's classes 1-10, you will need to order transcripts directly from Harold Washington.
All questions about credits should be directed to their registrar, listed below.
Year Up Chicago is a one-year workforce development program for urban young adults ages 18–24. They work to bridge the Opportunity Divide – the gap between those who have access to education, resources, and livable-wage employment, and those who do not.
In 2016, City Colleges of Chicago faculty undertook an assessment of the learning that happens in the Year Up Chicago program and recommended that City Colleges award college-level course credit when Year Up Chicago graduates enroll in a degree program at any of the seven City Colleges.
This credit is assigned as Prior Learning Assessment, or PLA, when posted on the CCC transcript. This means that the credit was not transferred from another college, but it is college-level learning and will count as either meeting specific course requirements or as electives toward a CCC degree. There will not be letter grades attached to that credit.
To receive this credit at City Colleges, students must:
1. Apply, gain admission, and prepare to enroll at one of the seven City Colleges.
2. Have completed all of the accepted courses listed below with a grade of C or higher.
3. Have their Year Up transcript and grade report sent to the Records Office at the college you plan to attend. Students will need to request that the credit be awarded at the Records Office by stopping by the office and requesting the credit be awarded.
4. Speak about the credit with their academic advisors to make sure they do not repeat the courses when they enroll.
To order a Year Up transcript, students should go online to their ACE account. Year Up students should use their ACE/Year Up Student ID by Year Up number provided to access the portal. When ordering your transcript, please send it to the specific campus or campuses you are applying to. The campus Registrar’s Office addresses are listed below.
Send the transcript and grade report to the Records Office at the City College you will be attending:

About transferring this credit out of City Colleges:
Please note that generally other colleges will not transfer credit that is assigned via Prior learning Assessment. Each transfer institution has policies and procedures concerning the award of credit via PLA, us usually requiring that the Year Up transcript be sent to the institution for evaluation.
